Why was it proposed to declare July 8 a day off?
The priority of the family, motherhood and childhood is enshrined in the Constitution and the Day of Family, Love and Fidelity is gaining popularity every year. Declaring it a non-working holiday will allow Russians “to gather with the whole family, spend time with their loved ones, which, in turn, will help strengthen family kinship, make young people think about how important it is to keep the family, loyalty and love on throughout life,” the explanatory note says.
Will July 8, 2022 be a public holiday?
No. As of July 7, the text of the bill and the explanatory note have only been registered and sent to the Chairman of the State Duma. The bill must go through a preparatory stage and three readings before it is finally approved.
Initially, when 8 July was declared a new holiday — On the Day of Family, Love and Loyalty, Russian President Vladimir Putin did not include additional clarifications in the decree. In the production calendar, this day was marked in black — like a normal working day.
When will it be possible not to work on the Day of Family, Love and Fidelity?
If the deputies make a positive decision on the bill, the Russians will have an additional day off next year.
