The detained former deputy head of the Ministry of Emergency Situations Andrei Gurovich is accused of exceeding his powers during the construction of a COVID hospital in the Murmansk region, which led to damage to the region in the amount of 323 million rubles. Earlier, RBC sources reported on his detention.

The investigation believes that in 2020 Gurovich organized the allocation of 969 million rubles from the budget. for the construction of a coronavirus hospital in the Murmansk region. However, during the construction of the field hospital, the climatic conditions of the region were not taken into account, it was not used for its intended purpose and was later dismantled.

“Knowing for certain about these circumstances, Gurovich, who was entrusted with the responsibility of monitoring the spending of the allocated budget funds, realizing that the goals of deploying the hospital were not achieved, did not take measures for the effective use of budget funds, as a result of which damage was caused to the budget of the Murmansk region in the amount of more than 323 million rubles»,— declared in the UK.

Searches were carried out at the places of residence of Gurovich, people associated with him, and in the territorial divisions of ministries and departments. The investigation requested documents from the Ministry of Emergency Situations.

Earlier, the Investigative Committee asked the Basmanny Court to arrest Gurovich. According to p. «c» part 3 of Art. 286 of the Criminal Code, under which he was charged, the former deputy minister could face up to ten years in prison.

President Vladimir Putin fired Gurovich from his post as deputy minister at the end of May, a position he has held since June 2018. RBC's source then said that in the block of the department supervised by Gurovich, an audit of law enforcement agencies was carried out. “The check was carried out by the FSB, and it is primarily related to his work,” — he said.
